Pat J Wheeler is a lifelong teacher, librarian, and children’s book lover who uses language and story to drive instruction, engage readers, and initiate learning.

 

Pat especially enjoys classroom visits where she can sit with children around her on a rug and share the story of her writing and its resulting book, Winnie Acts Up. This interactive presentation is officially titled, What Does a Story Look Like BEFORE It Is a Book?
 

She shows students the steps and stages her text took as sketches were added and illustrations came to life. This 30 to 60-minute school visit ends with a reading of the book and discussion of theater vocabulary throughout. There is no cost for this visit within 20 miles of her location.
