Winnie Acts Up is a heart-warming story about a young girl Winnie, who auditions for her first children’s theater play. What is so special about this book is that the author introduces vocabulary that is unique to the theater. Along with the vocabulary she places you into the shoes of Winnie. You feel what Winnie feels when she auditions, when she learns her lines, and when the children all play a game to learn words for directions for moving around on stage. You feel what the characters are feeling and are learning in a fun way!

A book to inspire young thespians!

Winnie Acts Up is a phenomenal children’s book especially for new thespians. It tells the story of a girl who is very shy at the her audition but gains confidence after finally learning her lines. The book uses theatre terms and has a glossary in the back. I love the colorful illustrations as they make Winnie and her friends come to life! I received a free, advance review copy and am offering my feedback voluntarily.

WINNIE ACTS UP is a delightful story about overcoming stage fright (or shyness, in general). It can double as an educational resource for beginning thespians, as well. I enjoyed the contemporary and fun dialog of the compassionate children that attend theater camp with Winnie. The author must have personal experience with children’s theater. Her expertise is apparent on each skillfully paced page turn. I have high praise for the illustrations in WINNIE ACTS UP. Marlon at Get Your Book Illustrations captures the full essence of this story’s import and action. Parents and teachers wanting to introduce children to the art of theater need look no further.

Perseverance is an excellent quality to have! My granddaughter loved the story when I read it to her. Winnie and her friends are so real that their personalities lift from the page. The colorful pictures also increased my granddaughter's enjoyment of the story. This book would make a great gift for the "aspiring actor or actress" in you family.
