Finding Balance in a Busy World

Anyone else feel a bit "behind the 8 ball?" I certainly do! It seems like I’ve been racing against time all summer. Since June 1st, when I last wrote a blog, I’ve started two new ones, but they haven’t gone anywhere yet.

So, what has kept me so busy this summer? Well, I want to say it’s all about family. My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting the fiancée of our oldest grandchild. We also attended the high school graduation party for our third oldest grandchild. Traveling isn’t our favorite pastime anymore, so long trips are fewer and farther between. Fingers crossed we can make it to our second grandchild's graduation from nursing school in Omaha next May, and a wedding in Michigan in June!

The Joys of Pet Life

Bella and Inky have kept us entertained just by being themselves. Watching a dog and a cat try to "cuddle" while in full motion is quite the sight! I’ve even shared a couple of short videos on Instagram featuring Inky and her playful tussles with a towel or a rug. They always bring a smile to my face.

The Real Struggles of the Summer

Now, let’s talk about my real struggles this summer: how to navigate the world of marketing, social media, and podcasting. It’s a whole new ballgame! I have a couple of books I’ve written, and I’m eager to share them with the world.

You see, I’ve spent my life as an educator, sharing books with anyone who would listen. Whether it was library books, Scholastic books, or bookstore finds, I loved spreading the joy of reading. But now, I find myself facing protocols, processes, and rules that seem to create hurdles in sharing my own books.

Embracing Technology

I belong to a generation that picked up technology in my 30s. I must have missed the early days of social media entirely because I was too busy teaching. Now, I’m trying to figure it all out. What actually works for me?
